Over the last few years, the older families of Mimico have been leaving the area and younger families and professionals have been moving in. This shift in demographics has breathed new life into the community; it is quickly gentrifying and transforming into a bustling neighbourhood for the next generation of residents.
Amenities
While getting around Mimico is typically easier with a car, there is still a lot you can do and amenities you can reach within walking distance. For destinations downtown or outside of the city, motorists have easy access to Lake Shore Boulevard and the Gardiner Expressway. As for public transit, Mimico Station provides residents with access to GO Transit routes (which can connect you to Union Station downtown) and TTC bus route can connect residents to Royal York Station or Islington Station.
Activities
A day out in Mimico wouldn’t be complete without stopping by for some sweet or savoury treats from Sanremo Bakery. Located at Royal York Road and Simpson Avenue, this bakery is well-loved for their zeppole and extravagant donuts. Grab some treats on your way to the lake, where the waterfront paths and trails can connect you all the way to Ashbridge’s Bay. Or, make your way down the Martin Goodman Trail and enjoy the gorgeous views before stopping in at Eden Trattoria on Marine Parade Drive for an Italian-inspired lunch or dinner.

Amenities
For daily errands and activities, getting around New Toronto is better with a car – although the neighbourhood does have great TTC access via buses that run to the northern subway stations, streetcar service that runs along Lake Shore Boulevard to the downtown core, and GO Transit service at Long Branch Station.
Activities
With a vibrant lakeshore community, New Toronto offers plenty for families. New restaurants and shops are constantly opening up in the area. In the winter, you can head over to Colonel Samuel Smith Park and enjoy their 1-kilometre outdoor skating trail. In the warmer months, we recommend taking the family over to Marie Curtis Park. The park has a supervised public swimming area, a children’s wading pool, an off-leash dog park, picnic spots, a playground, a splash pad, and walking trails that connect to the Waterfront Trail.
